This is a simple diary blog. Over the past few months there have been many signs of a return of fascism to the United Kingdom and to the world. I thought I’d start recording these signs, see if a pattern emerges. I’m not presupposing a pattern, I’m recording what I see and read that might shake down into something. If it’s nothing but my imagination, in a year or two I’ll look back at these posts and have a good laugh. Let’s hope so.

The thesis: climate change - more properly called “climate collapse” - is real and inevitable. There will be unrest and riots and disease and famine and pressure from shifting populations. The authorities know all this - of course they do, they’re not idiots. When the crisis arrives, they believe they will need to preserve order, take away freedoms, take control of all aspects of our society. Most people will regard all that as a disaster: a few regard it as an opportunity.

Let’s name the people involved. In Britain, the ultra Brexiteers and the Tommy Robinson gang. In the United States, all hues of the alt-right, from Trump to the KKK. In France, the Yellow Jacket movement has regrettably been hijacked by the fascists. In Hungary and Brazil, the current governments. In Russia, too. All over, the Incel movement - originally a much-needed support group for those seeking romantic partners but unable, for whatever reason, to get them, it is now a toxically masculine entitlement movement. Many many others that I shall explore.

Their targets: ethnic minorities, gays, women (outside domesticity), George Soros, the EU, Islam, perceived political correctness, neoliberalism, Greens, the elite. Not (so far) the Jews, except among the KKK - but they’ll be there in the list eventually.

Since the Skripal poisoning, anything is possible. Maybe these connections are nothing, but just in case I’m ramping up the paranoia.
